This work is made with professional acrylic paint and ink. It’s 24 inches tall by 36 inches wide on gallery wrapped 1.5 inch thick canvas.  The last photo is the color palette of the main colors in this painting in hopes of eliminating color discrepancies on screen.  The painting is shown as framed in walnut.

Inspiration: This work is inspired by imagery from The German Expressionist art movement that was before WW1. I took the angular, harsh imagery and used blues and light orange, and gold to soften the angular composition. I named it Looking through the Kaledeiscope because it reminds me of what the inside of a kaleidoscope looks like.

 Series: The Expressionism Inspired Series

While studying film theory in Wales, United Kingdom, I became fascinated with studying the art of the German Expressionism movement. This movement was significant in history because artists began making art based on emotion and psychology, instead of reality.

These work are inspired by the imagery of film and paintings that I studied and admired in film school. I can point to two films that inspired this work, Metropolis (1927) and The Cabinet of Dr. Calgari (1920).  My favorite painter from the movement is Wassily Kandinsky, and Vincent Van Gogh.
