INSPIRATION: For years, I searched for the reason I paint the way I do.
I attended artist statement workshops, rewrote my biography countless times, and kept asking myself the same question: Why? I knew what inspired me, but I couldn't explain what connected it all. I was drawn to architecture, taillights, travel, music, and the emotions tied to places that no longer exist, yet there was always a missing piece.
Then, two weeks ago, it finally clicked. Memory. Not as nostalgia, but as the invisible thread running through everything I create.
Our memories rarely return to us as complete pictures. They come back as fragments: the curve of a building, the glow of taillights on a rainy night, a color from a childhood home, the feeling of a conversation whose words we've forgotten. Over time, those fragments merge with imagination until they become places that never truly existed, but somehow still feel familiar.
That realization became the foundation of Memory Atlas, a painting about the landscapes we carry within us, and it opened the door to an entirely new body of work.
