Inspiration:

Rhythm of the Motor City is a homage to Detroit’s rich history and resilient spirit. Growing up in a suburb of the city, I was captivated by its historic architecture and the stories embedded in its streets. Visits downtown were a chance to explore outside the bubble of the suburb I called home. It felt scary to explore Detroit, in a good, overwhelming way. I felt the city’s pulse—its legacy as the birthplace of the Motor City, where innovation and resilience left an indelible mark.

This piece reflects that energy and nostalgia, with bold colors and rhythmic forms echoing the heartbeat of Detroit. It’s an ode to the historic beauty, cultural vibrancy, and enduring spirit of a city that has always fascinated me.
