Disco Fever

This is an acrylic and oil pastel painting on 16 x 16 inch canvas.

Meaning: The first time this painting was finished was in 2020. Then I gave it another life in 2024. In 2026, I grabbed a bunch of old paintings to paint over, including this one, but I decided this one didn’t need a coat of white, it needed to be updated to be current with my level of skills and style. I started working on it in January 2026, my goal was to bring it with me to Palm Springs for the Modernism Show, but I couldn’t figure out how to “solve” the puzzle until recently. This painting has had 3 different faces, all different eras of my style. The end result reminds me of my first Ever Mid Century Modern Collection, which was called the Retro Summer series from 2018. The paintings all had names relating to disco or fiesta, hence, this paintings name is a throwback.
