INSPIRATION: This painting is inspired by the synesthesia I experienced while listening to the song Potion by Djo. The lyrics “I’ll try all of my life just to find someone to leave on the light for me” really resonated. Recently, I bought myself a night light, but it only had a switch to turn it on and off. What I really wanted was a motion-activated timer, so when I walk past it at night, it turns on and then turns off minutes later. My partner, Ollie, spent several days writing code to make this possible for me. All the while I was painting this painting and listening to this song. I found someone that literally makes sure a light is on for me at night. I hope you have someone like that, too.
