Details: 9 x 12 x 1.5 inches; acrylic on canvas, sides painted walnut brown, wired and ready to hang.

Inspiration: Montavilla is a neighborhood in SE Portland, Oregon. The name is a contraction of Mt Tabor Villa, the original name of the neighborhood, which was founded in 1889. This painting is another ode to the city I love. Notice the little "mountains" in the lower right quadrant.

About The Artist

I’m Leah Nadeau, and I create original abstract paintings for people who want their homes to feel unmistakably like their own.

My work is shaped by architecture, midcentury modern design, my film school background, and synesthesia, which means I experience music as color. Every painting is made slowly, by hand, and one at a time.

Filled with color, joy, resilience, and a little weirdness, these paintings aren’t meant to disappear into the background. They become the piece you build the entire room around.

My work has been featured in Atomic Ranch Magazine, exhibited at Modernism Week in Palm Springs, and permanently installed at the Henry Ford Health Cancer Institute in Detroit.
