Meaning:

Pink Pony Girl is a painting about a girl from the Midwest who goes to the West coast to find her purpose and be the artist she was meant to become.  The painting’s name is inspired by the song Pink Pony Club by musical artist Chappel Roan, and tells a similar story.

When I was a teenager I always dreamed of California. My end goal was to become an actress, I even went to acting camp in hopes of bettering my craft. As time went on, I realized acting may not be what I was meant to do, although I did have fun doing it.

I eventually would move to California, but decided on San Francisco, and that led me down the path to become an artist. Art first piqued my interest when I took a modern art history class and felt like a wave of inspiration hit me when I learned about the abstract expressionist.

I’ve been chasing that wave of inspiration ever since, and when I listen to music like Pink Pony Club I automatically dance and remember I started as a girl who didn’t discover painting until college and then taught herself how to paint and now she gets to do it for a living.
