Inspiration:
In 2014, while pursuing my master’s degree in film theory in Wales, I discovered painting as my creative escape—a way to unwind after the intense hours spent on my dissertation. What began as a simple release turned into a lifelong passion, sparking a daily practice that has shaped my journey ever since.
My painting Super 8 carries the story of that beginning. Named for the prominent “8” in the composition, it’s a nod to how this journey started. It’s also inspired by the iconic Super 8 film format, a choice that revolutionized the art world in the ’70s for its accessibility and creative freedom.
This piece is an homage to the lasting influence of film and television on my art, capturing the energy and spontaneity that drew me to storytelling in the first place.
